CONSORTIUM OF UNIVERSITIES OF THE WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN AREA CUWMA/ MICROSOFT CAMPUS AGREEMENT

The CUWMA has reached an agreement with Microsoft on a specially discounted version of the MS Campus Agreement 3.0.

Background
The CUWMA/Microsoft Agreement

Background

The CUWMA and MS have agreed to a discounted version of the Campus Agreement 3.0, with a license that is annually renewable each February. CUWMA has contracted with the Foundation for California Community Colleges (FCCC) to manage the CUWMA's Consortium Campus Agreement. The FCCC manages the largest consortium agreement in the United States with over 100 colleges participating and manages more than 10 other state consortium agreements.

All distribution of software to faculty, staff, and students under the agreement is handled by CUWMA via the FCCC, which, as the entity legally responsible for the agreement, is also responsible for keeping records of all sales to each faculty, staff and or student at each participating institution. Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft may audit the purchase records kept for CUWMA by FCCC at any time during the life of the agreement.

For questions on the agreement, an extensive FAQ is available on the Microsoft website at http://www.microsoft .com home page and searching for Campus Agreement 3.0 under higher education. Campus Agreement 3.0 offers many benefits:

Easy compliance - Because all of your institution's computers and users are licensed for the term of the agreement, it's easy to be sure that your institution is fully licensed for use of the Campus Agreement products you've selected.

Low administration - Subscription licensing eliminates the need to track licenses for individual Campus Agreement products on every computer. This is especially helpful for managing software assets in a decentralized environment.

Stay current on technology - With subscription licensing programs, your users are licensed to run the most current version of the software products included in your agreement, and your institution automatically receives media for products that upgrade during your agreement term.

Simple budgeting and purchasing - One annual payment covers all of the Campus Agreement products you've selected for the year.

Excellent value - By standardizing on a platform of products, your total cost of software ownership is reduced while productivity and access to current technology are increased.

12-month term

Microsoft Campus Agreement is a subscription that gives you the rights to run the licensed software for a 12-month period, and licenses all upgrades and downgrades of the software throughout the term of the agreement. At the end of the term, you may renew the agreement, cancel out of the annual subscription model through the Buy-out Option or remove the software from your machines.

The price is right

Campus Agreement is based on a count of all of your institution's faculty/staff Full-time Equivalent (FTE) employees. Pricing is tiered depending on the number of FTEs. Since the Consortium's Microsoft agreement exceeds 3,000 FTE's, the price per FTE for participating Consortium members is $48.00.
