ERTECH is a project of the 2-M Center, a non-profit community
development organization led by Ambrose Lane, Jr. and Don
Murray. ERTECH's mission is to address the digital divide
in the East of the River region of Washington, DC. It works
to ensure that every child has access to technology by creating
and building partnerships with schools, universities, libraries,
businesses, faith-based organizations, and community centers.
It has hosted a public policy "think tank" on the digital
divide and a training session for community technology centers.
Through partnerships with the University of the District of
Columbia, Howard University, and other Consortium of University
members, ERTECH plans to develop technology-based student
internships; create research opportunities; gather statistical
data relevant to the digital divide; and pursue joint funding
opportunities in the federal and private sector. Other members
include representatives from America Online, the Kimsey Foundation,
and the DC School Board.
