The Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area (CUWMA) is a member of The Higher Education Cooperative Purchase Consortium (HECPC) sponsored by the Foundation for California Community Colleges. As a member of the HECPC, all CUWMA members are eligible to participate in this buying consortium of more than 1,600 colleges and universities. Currently more than 50 vendors representing over 200 products and services have agreed to discount their prices to Consortium members.

The Foundation also sponsors or coordinates Microsoft Campus Agreements for CUWMA and/or individual member institutions. Among the benefits to the colleges are lower prices and ease of administration.
